Frequently Asked Questions

Engage All-Stars is a sports league dedicated to children with disabilities. Our approach is different than any other league. Instead of the child adapting to the sport we adapt the sport to the child. We cater to the child's need and make the game accessible for all who participate.

There are no disqualifiers for any child, or adult, who wishes to participate. Each person is taken into consideration and we desire to make the sport desireable for everyone. We want each person who plays the sport to feel important and as if they are the professional. The league is open to all ages, race, gender, origin, sexual orientation, sex and anything else used in legal jargon. Bottom line everyone is welcome. All we ask is that the person have a medically diagnosed disability, and if not no worries, just ask about your situation. Chances are we have seen it, heard of it or have experience with it.

We get this question all the time, "Why do I need to agree to a liability waiver if you talk about how safe the sport is?"

We love this question, really we do.

By asking this question you show how much you care. We do too. The league was created by Rick and Lindsay Morris who have a child, Austin, who was the inspiration for the league. Austin has multiple disabilities and the league was created with him in mind. Everything we do starts with asking one fundamental question, "How do we create a safe environment?"

The simplest answer to that question is mentors. We use mentors who come to each game and pair up with a child. The mentor has multiple roles but the first, and most important role, is to make sure the child is safe at all times. We warn parents that there could be a time where the mentor has to push the child out of the way of harm. My response to this issue is easy, it is better to have scrapes on the knee than a busted lip or face because they were hit by the ball.

Each child has a unique circumstance, this is where we thrive. Because we tailor the sport to each child we are always making sure we put everyone's safety first. We are constantly making adjustments during the game to make sure the game is fun for all, adjusted for each persons skill level and to make sure everyone is kept safe.

At each game is someone who is medically trained. Lindsay Morris is a licensed Registered Nurse with her MSN and currently working toward being a Nurse Practitioner.
