Engage All-Stars is a year round sports league dedicated to children with disabilities.
The idea started from the son of Rick Morris. Austin Morris was born January 1, 1999 at 23.5 weeks gestation. He weighed 1lb 7oz. and was 12.5 inches long. After spending 7 months in the hospital he came home on oxygen. Life was not easy for Austin. Growing up he always had a love for sports. He had many opportunities to play but as he got older his safety became a major concern. Austin had reached the age where he could no longer play sports and he was devastated.
The planning phase of Engage All-Stars is always interesting. Each year brings about new opportunity and a new set of challenges. I know of two families that have moved from the area and with them 4 children are no longer a part of the league. It is always so sad to love members of the Engage All-Stars family but equally excited for their new chapter in life.
